Laurie E. Krause, Principal of First Bankers Mortgage Company, has been in the mortgage business since 1982 (she was a child prodigy...).

Beginning in the banking industry, she created new mortgage and secondary market departments for de novo savings and loans and commercial banks. She then moved into the corporate realm and ran national underwriting and regional operations centers for wholesale lenders such as Centerbank Mortgage, Bank of America and Homeside Lending.

Looking for a sincere challenge in her life, she joined the ranks of the self employed at Prospect Financial in 1999.  She then opened First Bankers Mortgage Company with fellow founders Bill McDougall and Bryan Moffett in 2005. Bill and Bryan decided to focus on their restaurant, Murphy & Scarletti's, and Laurie became the proud sole owner of First Bankers in January of 2009.

Laurie's 27 years of mortgage experience, patience, empathy and ability to position clients for the best possible financing will put you in the home and the mortgage that is right for you.

Integrity and trust are values that Laurie holds high.  She missed the sub-prime crisis by not writing sub-prime loans.  Finding most of them to be wholly unconscienable, she would not put her clients into them. Of course, that means she never got to buy that Caribbean island, but she is able to sleep at night.

Laurie has been a resident of Simsbury, CT since 1986 and is the proud Mom of two teenagers.  She is also a Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor and, along with her partner, runs Bikram Yoga in the Valley ~ Simsbury.  Between the mortgage market and two teenagers, believe us, yoga is a necessity.

Laurie is also the Chairman of the Affordable Housing Committee of the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association and a member of the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce.
